My work is focused on practices to help HSPs manage stress, so I was delighted when my friend and colleague Andy Mort invited me to talk about those practices in some detail for his podcast, The Gentle Rebel.

Today I’m excited to share with you my recent guest appearance on Andy Mort’s podcast, The Gentle Rebel. In our conversation, I share how my issues with performance anxiety during my oboe performance career led me to my current work with highly sensitive people.

More importantly though, we discuss practices to manage stress and intense emotions. Emotional self-regulation is a crucial skill for highly sensitive people, and I think you will value the insights and information you’ll get from this conversation about handling your intense emotions.

A word about Andy: he lives in the UK, and he coaches sensitive people with an emphasis on creativity. He also runs a resource-rich membership site for HSPs called The Haven. You can see his creativity and tech wizardry on display there, and also in our podcast: in the music and the sound editing, which is all his (if you need a podcast editor, he does that professionally too) and in the image above (yes, we talk about why the kid behind the wheel, and note the license plate!)

I hope you’ll check out our conversation, which Andy called “Practice Makes Peaceful.” I also hope you’ll check out Breath-Body-Mind practices, which are among those I recommend in the podcast. (As always, I only recommend practices I’ve used and benefited from myself, and I don’t take commissions. I’m passing on the information because I want HSPs who need them to know about these resources.)

The next Breath-Body-Mind introductory workshop has opened for registration

The next Breath-Body-Mind introductory workshop takes place on Zoom on October 6, 7, and 8, 2021. In addition to helping you regulate your intense emotions, these evidence-based practices re-balance your nervous system, helping to heal anxiety, depression, and trauma. and promoting a sense of calm and well-being.

This 12-hour workshop runs from 9 AM to 1 PM EST each day and is taught by psychiatrists Dr. Richard Brown and Dr. Patricia Gerbarg. I’ve found the practices so helpful for myself that I became a certified teacher for B-B-M this year so I could share them with others. (Note: BBM intros typically fill up quickly so enroll early if you are interested.)
